| The Murk Family has been sharing the Word of God and the Gospel illustrated with music for 39 years. They have had over 5,000 meetings in all 50 states and 26 foreign fields. The family music ministry began after Jim Murk, formerly a pastor and college professor, won the national champion- ship of the Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour on CBS-TV as a lyric tenor soloist in 1963. When he was invited to sing, he included his entire family in his programs. For 20 years they ministered as a family of seven in sacred concerts. Now four of the children are married, and are ministering in sacred concert programs with their own families. |
For the last 15 years they have been the Murk Family Trio--Donna (mom), Jim (dad) ministering with their oldest daughter Beverly, who is a beautiful concert violinist.
The Murks have ministered in churches, conferences and schools all over the USA including Alaska and Hawaii. They are perennial short term missionaries having traveled regularly on mission fields all over Latin America and Europe. Most recently they ministered in Portugal, France, Spain, Austria, Romania, and Mexico. In the last 28 years the Murk family altogether, and as a trio, have evangelized in over 200 cities and towns of these various nations.
The family is thoroughly conservative, committed to the Scriptures, to their responsibility to the Great Commission, and to exalting the majesty of our Lord Jesus Christ. They have been invited to minister with a large proportion of the great evangelistic churches in America--a list much too long to be enumerated here. As a whole group the family produced more than 20 record albums and has appeared on TV and radio in many parts of our country, in Latin America, and in Europe.
Their music is chosen for its message. They are a genuine ministry not just music entertainment. They are known for a great variety of musical styles ranging from the finest of the classical to the best of the contemporary. Their emphasis has been the Christian home and family and also Jim's teaching messages with overhead projector. His topics include: 1)the Biblical foundations of America, 2) the massive moral and educational decline that has taken place and what is the responsibility of evangelical Christians, 3) the present rise of Islam and the part it plays in the prophecy of the Bible concerning the end of the age, and 4) new evidence concerning the very soon coming of the Lord Jesus. He has also written scores of papers on contemporary Christian issues available especially to pastors.
Financially the Trio usually comes for travel expenses plus a free will offering or on the basis of some mutual agreement. This supports their living and other expenses but is also used to fund their annual missionary journeys.
